Materials: fabric, yarn, matches, framed drawing
Venue: Habitat House, San Diego
Description: This piece is made up of shiny gold flags with the phrase "A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH," and mounted on match stick flag poles. In the center of flags is the watercolor text "Showboat" hand stitched onto the gold fabric and framed. I am interested in the dichotomy between the two colloquial phrases, and the shift in the execution of each phrase, as well as identity as a group vs. the individual.
